Review of American Gladiators...

I just realized, after reading Steph's blog that I haven't posted my thoughts on American Gladiators!

After Life Group on Sunday, we rewound (is that even a word?) the DVR and started watching from the beginning! I must say that I was a little aggravated by Wolf and his howl; seeing how this annoyed me: Fisher would pump his fist every time he howled! Those Gladiators sure are scantily clad these days! I don't see how some of them even perform in the events without losing their clothing!

Speaking of the Gladiators performing in events: doesn't it seem unfair that the Gladiators basically specialize in certain events, and those are the only times you see them? Like Crush and Joust, etc. The Gladiators only seem to mix it up in the multi-Gladiator events, like Hit and Run, which requires no skill on the Gladiators part, and the Gauntlet.

I must say that after watching an hour or so of AG, I started to like Wolf! He's pretty funny! I also like how the AG seem so tough, and then when the event is over they are friendly with the contestants! I also like Hellga...mostly because her name cracks me up, and I think she could take on most of the male Gladiators! Titan looks like a plastic, super hero doll...I mean action figure. And the wavy hair? Looks like he was drawn in a comic book. As for the male Gladiators, I don't like Toa's skirt or Militia's salute...I also don't care for that strap that he wears across his chest. Surely, that's not easy to wear while competing. I also would like to cut Mayhem's hair. Wow, I'm surprised I remember so many of their names!

I'm so happy that Powerball is still an event! That's my favorite! The other events are decent, this is just my favorite. What about the Eliminator? That hand bike is a killer! Why don't they just pretend to fall off and then climb up the scaffolding? On the old AG you got a penalty for falling off the hand bike. There's no penalty on this version, so I just say fall! I'm also intrigued by how many people don't do well on the swimming part! To me, that's the easiest part! I'd rock that part of the Eliminator...if it were done in relay-style, and I didn't have to do any of the other legs!

I wasn't sure how I would feel about Hulk Hogan and Leila Ali hosting, but I think they both did okay. Neither of them were really annoying like I thought they would be. Although, Hulk did say, "I like that" in almost every segment where he interviewed a contestant! Thanks to Fisher for that observation!

Apparently people really like the show since everyone I talked to about it was very excited that it's back! I was glad to see that Leigh and her husband, Will, watch as do the Grosses!
