Strawberries Romanoff...

The first birthday I spent with Fisher was my 27th. He surprised me with hockey tickets, just after the strike ended and dinner at La Madeline (one of my favorite places). It was so sweet that he remembered my vague mention of going to a hockey game when the strike ended. I said it at Half-Price books one night, when we'd only been dating a month or so.

At La Madeline we had Strawberries Romanoff. I'd had them many times before, but never thought to ask what the sauce was made of. Turns out it is sour cream, brown sugar and brandy. I decided to recreate it. Who would have thought we'd be engaged a few months later?

Now, almost 2.5 years later, I decided to make Strawberries Romanoff again.

Here's my take on the recipe:

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 brown sugar

Splash of brandy

Mix and dollop on strawberries. It will have a light brown color.
