Do any of you remember the kid's mystery book series called Encyclopedia Brown? I loved these books as a kid, and would read as many as I could get my hands on. In the back of one of the books, there was a recipe for London Bridge Brownies. I was probably 10 or so when I made them for the first time, definitely old enough to know how to use measuring cups. It was a special day because I got to use cocoa powder, something my mom kept on hand but rarely used. In fact, this is the first recipe I remember making.
While visiting my parents in January, I came across the recipe in my mom's packed recipe box. I couldn't believe she still had it! I was so excited! I'd thought about it over the years, but didn't know where the recipe was, and couldn't find any Encyclopedia Brown books.
I made the brownies tonight for Shaun's birthday, we're going to celebrate at Life Group tomorrow. I was going to make a chocolate cake to serve with ice cream and chocolate syrup. I went to the store to buy the cake mix, but got home and only had two eggs. Not enough for a cake mix. Luckily, the brownies only called for two eggs! They baked up really nice and smell delicious! I hope everyone likes them!
