Update...

Hi Everyone. Hubby and I have been out of town due to the passing of his grandpa. It was a very sad occasion, but joyous because he accepted Christ! His service was with full military honors which was very beautiful! I didn't know, but Hub's grandpa loved to sing and they played some of his singing at the service! That was also very neat, and now he's singing with Jesus! Grandpa was also a member of a car club, and they drove their classic cars in the processional. We drove to Iowa on Saturday (6/7) and as with any Boy and Girl road trip, there's always something we think is interesting or that we've learned:

  • Golden Corral buffet is better than Ryan's
  • Ryan's honey butter is better
  • Golden Corral has way better desserts (truffles, brownies, cookies, etc.)
  • We stayed at the same, classy Econo Lodge from last trip
  • We also stayed at a totally classy Motel 6 in Kansas City
  • We learned two new details about how to spot a classy motel: bottle opener mounted on the sink and a TV that is locked down to it's platform
  • Econo Lodge, even with seemingly damp floors, is better than Motel 6
  • I'm not a fan of fried pork tenderloin sandwiches
  • Maid-Rites make me think of the loose meat sandwich restaurant on Roseanne
  • The Creek and Indian Nation turnpikes in Oklahoma are more expensive than the Kansas Turnpike
  • Your husband knows you when he sees you taking pictures of bottle openers and TVs in a motel room and says, "Those are for the blog, aren't they?"
  • Sour cream and onion chips smell like sweaty gym socks
  • QT stands for Quik 'n Tasty (we drove by the headquarters)
  • QT's breakfast sandwiches are good
  • You can pick up Power 89.7 in Oklahoma City
  • On this road trip, we could visit the birthplaces of two presidents (Hoover and Truman), the bridges of Madison County, Precious Moments Chapel and the World's Largest Truck Stop
  • When bugs splatter on your windshield it can be red (eww)
  • Hubbo really likes roast beef on sandwiches (chunks not slices)
  • We are addicted to Whitey's Ice Cream. Ok, it's really just me
  • I love peonies
  • Places still exist where you can buy gas for less than $3.70 per gallon!
  • Super Targets in Iowa have huge aisles
  • Our niece knows that her uncle is a goofball
  • Our niece totally gets the concept of opening gifts now, and it is awesome! We gave her a 4th birthday present early (sparkly stuff and dresses)
  • Kansas could possibly be the most boring state to drive through
  • I love orange food (sunkist and cheetos)
  • Hubbo's grandpa has little chipmunks that visit his deck
  • Our car's interior is very delicate

Chipmunk!

Not the best restaurant, but the namesake barbecue sauce rocks

Niece's sparkly shoes

New birthday dress with sparkly belt (sparkles are very popular with the four year old set)
